I started this blog because it was the “in” thing to do way back then. If you’re wondering why Elephants & Mangoes, the answer is simple enough.  It wasn’t taken.

My birth name, Sharon Das, isn’t as unique as I had hoped it to be - so Google tells me.

I’m an ardent multi-tasker, having worked as an auditor, dabbled in tax, juggled finance and accounts with a Degree in Accounting. I went into office administration, human resource, writing web content and jumped into many other roles since then. I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities that my working life has been a colorful journey.

Today, I walk a different path having broken the confinements of the office walls for something more casual and personal. I’ve spent my year caring for the elders in my family, catching up with friends and really appreciating the things that I had often taken for granted like the beauty of a sunrise, the soothing sound of raindrops, the big blue sky.

Best English Write-Up 2012

That doesn’t mean that I’ve been resting on my laurels. I’ve been engaging myself in writing activities. Penning my thoughts has never been more satisfying. I never imagined anything would come out of it but something did. In 2012, I submitted an entry to Selangorlicious Food Blogging Competition, a food discorvery initiative by Tourism Selangor. That entry won me Best Write-Up in the English category.  Tadaaa! Here I am with the award. 

Over the years, I’ve also had the opportunity to attend special events by invitation,  having met briefly (for photos) some of the most inspirational people in the culinary field like Robert Rainford, Martin Yan, the four Chefs from AFC’s Great Dinners of the World and so on.

I naturally grew an interest for cooking after being wowed by their exciting displays of culinary skills. That’s another hobby under my expanding empire of experiences.

Whether I flourish or flounder,  I know not what tomorrow brings but I do know that it will add “interesting” to the pages of my life.
