To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.

Parks like these are a side that balances the harshness of city life that is, over at my corner at least and more often than not, riddled with wearisome surroundings like the messiness of construction work on a new highrise or road, and the din of cars and motorbikes zooming past.

Coffee is the drug of choice for many people needing a boost of energy. Me? My fix is nature but don't be mistaken, I'm not into sporty, adventurous stuff - I just like fresh air and taking in the sights on non-treacherous grounds. Haha, no mountain climbing stuff for me!

Perdana Botanical Garden is formerly known as Lake Gardens. It was renamed in 2011 to reflect its botanical status.

On my walkabout, I saw a some really interesting trees. The one pictured below is a tree with woody brown fruits that resemble cannonballs. Although I didn't see any of it on this visit, I managed to snap its flower.

This, funnily, is called the Sausage Tree.

Did you know that Perdana Botanical Garden is also equipped with an open-air concert venue? I didn't until this visit! Panggung Anniversari is a neat spot for events, as you can see.

Guess what else we discovered? At the end of the route beyond the lake is a tunnel leading to the back of Muzium Negara , our National Museum. Hubs and I did not venture any further than a few metres away from the tunnel since we were really sweaty by then. We decided to walk back.

You would think that my many visits to this park would have had me going 'same old, same old' but to tell you the truth I am still amazed by the place and find that there's still so much to explore.
